General Partners
Mark Masur, General Partner

Mr. Masur has served as general partner of Silver Creek Ventures and its predecessor funds since 1989.  Areas of expertise include carrier infrastructure, wireless communications, networking and semiconductors.

Prior to the formation of Silver Creek Ventures, Mr. Masur began his venture career in 1982 managing private equity technology investments for InterFirst Venture Corporation and its successors.  Mr. Masur received a Bachelor of Science degree from Weber State College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver. 

Representative investments for Mr. Masur include Xilinx, ProNet, and Alteon WebSystems.  Current board seats for Mr. Masur include PowerFile, Inc. and Bivio Networks.

 


Michael Segrest, General Partner

Since joining the firm in 1991, Mr. Segrest has actively worked with over twenty-five portfolio companies at Silver Creek Ventures, helping them realize their goals of becoming successful startup companies. 

As a general partner for the Firm, Mr. Segrest has focused his investment activities on information technologies, particularly in the areas of security, networking, and services.  Current board seats for Mr. Segrest include Aktino, Inc. and Hammerhead Systems.

Prior to Silver Creek, Mr. Segrest served as a Principal for a merchant banking firm specializing in the communications industries. Mr. Segrest received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin in the ERB program (Electrical Engineering option) and his MBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin.


John Adler, General Partner

Mr. Adler joined Silver Creek Ventures as a General Partner in 2007.  His areas of expertise include data and voice communications, semiconductors, and wireless applications.  Mr. Adler has also served as a board member of the Texas Venture Capital Association since its inception in 2004.

Prior to joining Silver Creek, Mr. Adler served as a Partner with InterWest Partners since 2001, a leading diversified venture capital firm in information technology and life sciences. Representative investments include Covaro (acquired by Adva Optical), kajeet, Nuventix, Venturi Wireless and VizionWare.

Prior to InterWest Partners, Mr. Adler developed 17 years of operating experience in product management and engineering from Rockwell International, Alcatel, Monterey Networks and Cisco Systems.  Mr. Adler received a BSEE and MBA from Southern Methodist University and has authored or co-authored four US patents.

The management team at Silver Creek is complemented by a select group of Venture Partners that serve to extend the Firm's reach in selected technology markets.

These Venture Partners are prominent, experienced operators that have managed numerous successful technology startups in the fields of networking, communications, and information technology. Not only do they help identify early investment opportunities for Silver Creek, the Venture Partners also provide valuable technology and business strategy assessment to the Firm's portfolio companies.  In addition, Silver Creek has formed an Advisory Board comprised of industry operators and investment professionals that contribute to the Firm's investment process.
